About Us

The Hidden Trail Oboist graduated from the Eastman School of Music with bachelor degrees in Oboe Performance and Music Education, and was awarded the prestigious "Performer's Certificate." She then moved to Texas to earn a master's degree in Oboe Performance at Baylor University, and completed doctoral coursework towards a DMA at the University of Texas in Austin. She has studied with some of America's most famous oboists, won a position with a major symphony orchestra, and served on faculties of several colleges and universities. In addition to playing and teaching in south Texas, Deana Johnson currently serves as Director of the St. Mary's University Symphony Orchestra in San Antonio. She and her husband, a violinist in the San Antonio Symphony, have three grown children, two grandchildren, and an array of farm animals!
